I don’t visit vegetarian restaurants too often but when I do, I make sure it’s a fine dine Italian place with cozy cute corners and chic decor. Much like how it is at Pepe Verde’s. It is located right beside London Curry House quite in the heart of Bengaluru.
As soon as you walk through the doors, you know you are about to enter a whole new world of deliciousness.
Not only do they have seatings arranged so well for couples, groups and families but also have a great collection of fine wines.
To begin with, I had the Arancinelle – a Tuscan style rice ball stuffed with cheese and green peas and deep fried. It is served with some spicy tomato sauce and is something I’ve never had before.
Another very simple dish was focaccia with cheese and chilli – basic triangular bits of your usual focaccia bread topped with chillies and cheese, they do know how to uplift simple items like these!
If you’re going in a group, I’d suggest you try the Antipasti platter that they have – the spicy four cheese and corn croquettes simply had my heart.
There is also a section dedicated just to my salad loving friends.
Don’t stick to them, move on to the main course. Try the lasagna alla sisiliana – a vegetable lasagna layered with bell peppers, carrots, beans and peas and a creamy cheese sauce that’s finished with parmesan. It is a complete burst of flavours in the mouth.
The gnocchi pesto is a hit among pasta lovers.
You can also create your own pasta by adding in a variety of toppings.
They also serve a plethora of drinks off the London curry house menu and you’ll be left spoilt for choice.
To end the meal, go with a lemon cheese cake. But I absolutely loved the tiramisu – made as close to authentic as possible!
